Bills Dominates Volusia For First Dirt Win

On Tuesday night, the UMP Modified Series made their only trip of the season to the Volusia Motorsports Park for a 75-lap feature event under the lights.

Race Winner – Tim Bills benefitted from the Pole Shuffle to start first, and led all 75 laps to pick up his first career SARA dirt win.

Race Summary – When the field took the green flag, Tim Bills was out front with help from the Pole Shuffle handicap. And he would take full advantage of that. In the early stages of the race, Clay Snider was able to maintain the gap by about a second, but as the track continued to slick off, the lead for Bills continued to grow. A late race caution would erase that lead for Bills, but he would get the jump on the restart and went on to add his 26th career SARA victory.

Heat Winners – Michael Dullard and Clay Snider picked up the Heat Race wins.

Hard Charger – Russell Berry took the Hard Charger honors, climbing six positions on the night to finish in 6th.

UMP Rookie – Tim Bills finished as the highest “rookie” with his victory, and leads the Rookie of the Season standings.

Title Fight – David Krikorian had a solid podium finish which helps him extend his points lead, and he is expected to maintain that points lead after the drop race is factored in following next week.

Up Next – The UMP Modifieds will be off for two weeks for iRacing’s Week 13 and for the second Dirt SLM Triple Crown event, but will return in three weeks for their sixth race of the season.
