Bodio Closes Points Gap With Third Win

This past Monday night, the Open Wheel Series returned to Lanier for the second time this season with a 40-lap dirt Midget feature event.

Race Winner – Dave Bodio took the lead from David Krikorian after a lap 13 restart and went on to pick up his 3rd win of the season, and his 9th career SARA victory.

Race Summary – David Krikorian started at the front of the filed after the Pole Shuffle handicap, and he controlled the opening 12 laps of the race. However it was Dave Bodio that dove to the bottom and took the lead following a restart, and he would continue to work in the lower groove as the field battled behind him. The final restart came at the halfway point of the race, but Bodio would pull back away during the final 20 laps by over five seconds to take the victory.

Heat Winners – Dave Bodio and Clay Snider took the Heat Race wins.

Hard Charger – Bruce Perry gained 8 spots on the night to finish on the podium, after starting outside the top ten.

Title Fight – With the victory, Bodio closed the gap down to just two points over Derek Robinson after Robinson had early troubles in the race. However after the drop race is taken out following next week’s off-week, it’s expected that Bodio will overtake Robinson in the standings.

Up Next – The series will be off next week for iRacing’s Week 13, but will return in two weeks for the second 410 Non-Wing Sprint Triple Crown event, and the Midgets will return in three weeks.
