On Wednesday night, the Callaway Investments Sportsman Series ran the fifth race of their season with a 100-lap feature event at Irwindale Speedway’s Inner track.

Race Winner – Kyle Souza was at the point for 74 laps and picked up his 3rd career SARA win in the caution-free event.

Race Summary – After two heats and a pole handicap of eight cars, Landon Sciacca and Andre Fiorini led the field to the green flag. Although Sciacca would lead the first 24 laps, Kyle Souza would make the past around him when the field hit lap 25. Just past the halfway point, Matt Rolfe would clear Souza for the lead, but ultimately, Souza got back around him and drove away with the victory, which was his first of the season in his No. 14.

Heat Winners – Two heat races were used to set the field for the night, with Kyle Souza and Joe Schaffer Jr. scoring victories in the two, 12-lap events.

Hard Charger – After a crash in his heat race, Tim Bills would start 13th, but drive through traffic in the caution-free event and finish fourth, making him the hard charger.

Sportsman Rookie – Andre Fiorini was the top rookie in the race, scoring a third place finish in his No. 07.

Title Fight – Following his fourth-place finish, Tim Bills holds a 24-point lead over Kyle Souza in the championship standings, while Joe Schaffer Jr. runs third. But with a drop race on the horizon, the points are likely to be shaken up.

Up Next – The Callaway Investments Sportsman Series will be off next week for iRacing’s Week 13, but will return with the second Triple Crown race on March 14, with the SK Modified at Myrtle Beach Speedway.
