Late Restart Allows Bills To Pounce For Myrtle Beach Win

On Monday night, the Callaway Investments Sportsman Series made the league’s first trip to Myrtle Beach for a 75-lap race at iRacing’s newest short track, and the racing would provide plenty of side-by-side racing throughout the night.

Race Winner – After taking over the lead on an early restart, Jeremy Adams took control out front but was unable to break away from the field and battled with Trevor Edwards for most of the night up front. A late restart would change things up however as Tim Bills joined the fight, and put the pressure on for the lead. A slight bump-and-run from Bills moved Adams up the track allowing Bills to take the lead, but Adams gave it one more shot on the final lap but couldn’t make it stick on the bottom, allowing Bills to come around to pick up his 2nd win of the Sportsman season, and his 21st career SARA victory.

Pole Award – Joe Schaffer Jr. put his name in the record books for the time being as the first track record holder at Myrtle Beach with a lap of 21.166 seconds.

Hard Charger – Trevor Edwards started in the 10th spot and quickly moved up to battle for the lead, before ultimately finishing on the podium in 3rd for a net gain of +7.

Rookie of the Race – Kyle Souza battled around the top five all night and would end up in the 6th spot as the highest finishing Rookie.

Title Fight – A strong finish by Trevor Edwards increases his points lead up to 23 points at the top of the standings, heading into next week’s first Sportsman dirt race at Eldora.
