Sim Marketing Solutions Super Series – Super Late Models – Race 4 – June 14, 2018 – Phoenix ’08
After qualifying the week prior, the Super Series returned to the Phoenix International Raceway last Thursday night for their longest race of the season with the running of the Race1.us Copper World Summer Classic for 150 laps.
Race Summary – Throughout the first half of the race, the action was intense at the front of the field with a handful of lead changes happening during the first 75 laps. Jimmy Mullis had taken over the lead and was out front leading up to the halfway point of the race when a caution would set up a number of different strategies that would be the deciding factor in the race. With gas running low, 10 cars stayed on track hoping for another caution, while the rest of the field all went down pit road to add fuel. But only two of those cars would take their tires early, and Bill Martin was the first one to use the new rubber to charge to the front of the field. Martin took the lead for good on lap 99 as others were forced to make green flag pit stops with the race going green to the finish. Martin led the final 51 laps and pulled away out front to pick up his 55th career SARA victory.
Race Winner – Bill Martin – Qualified 5th, started 3rd (invert), 61 laps led
Top Five – 2nd Camaron Hamilton, 3rd Matt Rolfe, 4th Joe Schaffer Jr., 5th Dallas Pataska

Points Battle – Joe Schaffer Jr. came out of Phoenix with another top five finish, which extends his points lead out to 40 points after the 1/3-mark of the season.
HidesPride Head2Head Throwdown – Row 5 on the grid was selected at random for drivers to compete head-to-head, with Jimmy Mullis (10th) finishing ahead of Zack Novak (21st) to win the Throwdown.
