Davis Chassis Works Contender Series – Super Late Models – Round 4 – June 13, 2018 – Phoenix ’08

Last Wednesday night, the Contender Series made their way out west to the 2008 version of the Phoenix International Raceway for 100-lap races. A total of 48 cars were split into two separate features.

Race 1 Summary – Dallas Pataska led the field to the green flag in Race 1 but was hounded early and often by Ryan Doucette. Doucette would take over out front for 22 laps during the middle stages of the race, but Pataska was later able to find his way back by and Pataska would go on to pick up his 3rd Contender victory. Doucette, Dante Curtis, Donald Clark and Russell Charneski rounded out the top five.

Race 2 Summary – In Race 2 it was Tyler Price that started out front and he used that to his full advantage. He faced some pressure from behind at times during the race, but in the closing laps when cautions began stacking up, he was able to avoid the pressure by getting good jumps out front and went on to lead all 100 laps of the race for his 2nd career SARA victory. Evan Sorensen, Ian Layne, Tyler Brown and Gareth Gonder rounded out the top five.

Hard Chargers – Matt Vaade (Race 1, +12), Gareth Gonder (Race 2, +14).

Pole Winner – Dallas Pataska (27.929 seconds)

Points Battle – Evan Sorensen takes over the top spot in the standings after picking up his 3rd runner-up finish of the season but holds a small margin over the rest of the top five.

Up Next – The Contender Series will head across the country to Maine for 150 laps at the Oxford Plains Speedway..
