The TUNDRA Super Sim Series presented by LOKOTOCO Designs ran their sixth race of the season on Thursday night with the running of the Downeast Chassisworx 150 at Concord Speedway.
Race Winner – Ty Majeski returned to the SARA Super Late Models, started 13th, and led the final 55 laps en route to his 77th career SARA victory.
Race Summary – Although Colin Allman took the fastest lap time in qualifying, an eight-car car invert put Mike Carlson on the pole for the 150-lap event. Carlson quickly dropped back, while Ryan Matthews took the early edge. At lap 22, Allman came from his eighth place starting spot to the lead, and was at the point until Majeski found his way to the lead at lap 96 as the two leaders battled through lapped traffic. Over a flurry of late cautions, Majeski would hang on for the victory, while Joe Schaffer Jr. would come through late to finish second.
Pole Award – Colin Allman put up a time of 14.425 seconds, which was good enough to capture the pole award for the race.
Hard Charger – Zack Novak started 20th, but worked his way through the field to finish in the fourth spot.
Rookie of the Race – With his fourth place finish, Novak was also the highest finishing rookie in the race.
Title Fight – After finishing second, Joe Schaffer Jr. took the points lead and will hold a 36-point lead over David Krikorian. However when drop races are factored into the standings, the points will likely show a completely different picture at the top.
Up Next – Although the series is off next week for iRacing’s week 13, The TUNDRA Super Sim Series presented by LOKOTOCO Designs will hold the Mid-West Race Updates Qualifying Night for the Midwest Powersource 300 at Irwindale Speedway next Thursday night.
