Late Move Puts Bills In Five Flags Victory Lane

On Tuesday night, the Late Models made their return to the SARA lineup as a part of the Callaway Investments/Midwest Powersource Sportsman Series for the Week 2 race at Five Flags.

Race Winner – Tim Bills patiently waited until 7 laps to go to make his move into the lead and took the victory, his 25th career SARA win.

Race Summary – Ty Spearman benefitted from the Pole Shuffle to lead the field to the green and held onto it for the first 8 laps before Trevor Edwards worked his way underneath him. Edwards pulled away on restarts early in the race, while cars throughout the top ten were fighting for positions behind him, but later in the race it wasn’t as easy. Tim Bills moved up into the second spot and began to apply pressure, waiting for Edwards to slip up. The door finally opened with less than 10 laps to go, and Bills got his nose under Edwards for the top spot, and finally cleared him and went on to pick up the victory.

Heat Winners – Three Heat Races were used to set the grid for the feature, and Colin Allman, Ty Spearman, and Conner Blaise each picked up wins in their respective heats.

Hard Charger – Kyle Souza struggled in his Heat Race and started 19th in the feature, then moved up 8 positions throughout the event to finish 11th.

LM Title Fight – With the victory, Tim Bills holds the early points lead for the Late Model Sportsman division.

Combined Title Fight – Tim Bills will also leave Five Flags with the combined points lead for the Sportsman Series and leads Conner Blaise by 9 points.

Up Next – Next week the Sportsman Street Stocks will return for a 75-lap feature at Langley.
