On Wednesday night, the Dirt Late Model Series took on Williams Grove for the second time this season for 75 laps of feature racing.
Race Winner – A well timed caution for Dillon Raffurty, saw his car a nose ahead of Joe Schaffer Jr. and Raffurty would go on to lead the final 44 laps for his 14th career SARA win.
Race Summary – After the Pole Handicap, Joe Schaffer Jr. would start at the front and led the field to the green flag. He would jump out to the early lead, but it took no time at all for Dillon Raffurty to move up from his 7th starting spot to run 2nd by lap 3. From there, Raffurty stalked Schaffer for the lead, and just as the pass attempt began, Raffurty would get a nose ahead just as the lap 32 caution flew, putting him out front. From there, Raffurty would hold on for his 8th victory of the season.
Heat Winners – Trevor Edwards and Chris Watkins won the two heat races.
Hard Charger – David Krikorian made his second Dirt Late Model start of the season and gained 9 positions to finish 4th.
Title Fight – Another win for Raffurty has him at the top of the standings, and as long as he attempts to qualify for one of the next two races, he will clinch the 2017 Fall Season championship. The battle is on for 2nd however, as Matt Rolfe and Chris Watkins are tied for the position.
Up Next – The Dirt Late Models will make the league’s first trip to the new Knoxville Raceway for a 100-lap feature event next Wednesday.
