Price & Sorensen Earn Wins At Irwindale

Davis Chassis Works Contender Series – Super Late Models – Round 6 – June 27, 2018 – Irwindale Speedway

The Contender Series took on the Irwindale Speedway for 150 lap features, with two splits competing at the half-mile outer configuration.

Race 1 Summary – In Race 1, Tyler Price led the field to the green flag but it was Dallas Pataska who took over the top spot from the outside groove. After an early restart, Price was able to regain the lead, and then spent most of the night pulling away from the pack behind him. Price would go on to stretch the lead out to nearly 6 seconds at the checkered flag for his second Contender win of the season. Pataska, Daniel Williamson, Ben Nile, and Chris Canfield rounded out the top five.

Race 2 Summary – In Race 2, it was all Evan Sorensen out front as he dominated the race. He was able to get the early jump on the initial start as well as the two restarts on the night, and pulled away each time. He too would pull out to over a 5-second lead by the checkered flag, also earning his second Contender win of the season. Gareth Gonder, Michael Goddard, Donald Clark and Jason Miller rounded out the top five.

Hard Chargers – Chris Canfield (Race 1, +7), Tyler Brown (Race 2, +5).

Pole Winner – Tyler Price (17.473 seconds)

Points Battle – Evan Sorensen was able to extend his points lead halfway through the season up to 13 points over Gareth Gonder.
