Callaway Investments Sportsman Series – Street Stocks – Race 5 – June 26, 2018 – Michigan International Speedway

The Street Stocks returned to Michigan for the 3rd time in series history for a 60-lap feature that would see 32 drivers battle it out two and three wide all race long.

Race Summary – The action was intense all night long with a total of 18 official lead changes at the front of the field. During the second half of the race, it was mostly Derek Robinson and Grant Brown at the front of the field running side-by-side. One of the two drivers looked to be on their way to a potential win, before getting tangled with each other on a restart with two to go, leaving the door open for Russell Charneski to sneak through to grab the lead, and would pick up his first career SARA win when the caution flew to secure the win.

Race Winner – Russell Charneski – Qualified 3rd, started 6th (invert), 5 laps led

Top Five – 2nd Ty Spearman, 3rd Tim Bills, 4th Darrell Hamlin, 5th Brandon Wilkinson

Hard Charger – Darrell Hamlin (+26 Positions – 30th to 4th)

Top Rookie – Grant Brown (8th)

Pole Winner – Jake Champion (49.878 seconds – 1st career pole)

Points Battle – Joe Schaffer Jr. got caught up in a late race incident, but hangs onto the points lead by 19 points over Charneski.

Up Next – The Street Stocks will be back on track July 10th at New Smyrna for 75 laps.
