Davis Chassis Works Contender Series – Super Late Models – Round 8 – December 5, 2018 – Martinsville Speedway

A total of 36 cars showed up at Martinsville last week for Round 8 of the Contender Series, and would be split up into two separate 150-lap races.

Race 1 Summary – The first green flag run of the race lasted over 90 laps, which allowed Dallas Pataska to show his strength out front. Before the lap 92 caution flew, Pataska’s lead extended up over 7 seconds as he lapped up to 5th place during the run. A couple late cautions flew, but none of that was enough to derail Pataska as he went on to dominate the race for his 5th career SARA win.

Race 2 Summary – Jacob Harberts led the field to the green, and throughout the first half of the race had had plenty of pressure from behind as Justin LaDuke and Keith Medeiros were on his tail. But when LaDuke and Medeiros tangled, it left Harberts out front and he would go on to lead every lap of the race for his second straight win.

Hard Chargers – Scott Dunlap, Kyle Morse (Race 1, +6 pos.), Jerry Glenn, Alan Pajari (Race 2, +6 pos.)

Pole Winner – Dallas Pataska (19.154 seconds)

Points Battle – After Martinsville, the top three in the standings are separated by just 3 points with Keith Medeiros leading Brad Mahar and Brandon Wilkinson.
