Davis Chassis Works Contender Series – Super Late Models – Round 9 – July 25, 2018 – Southern National Motorsports Park

The Contender Series took on the high banks of Southern National in Round 9 of the season, with a total of 35 cars being split up into two separate 150-lap features.

Race 1 Summary – In Race 1, it looked like Evan Sorensen would be well on his way to picking up another win. But as the race neared the 100-lap mark, Keith Medeiros was making his charge to the front. Medeiros made his move to the bottom and the two leaders would battle side-by-side for nearly 25 laps, before the 60 car finally gained the advantage through lapped traffic. Medeiros held off the field on a late restart to pick up his first SARA win. Travis McKinney, Derek Robinson, Chris Canfield, and Jason Miller rounded out the top five.

Race 2 Summary – Race 2 featured a lot of action at the front of the field as well, as Donald Clark and Kyle Souza battled throughout the first 75 laps. However just after a restart around lap 80, Michael Goddard had joined the battle and worked his way by Souza for the lead. Behind them, Tyler Jackson was the man on the move, climbing up to 2nd and then began to look for a way by Goddard in the closing laps. But despite multiple attempts, Goddard was able to hold him off and scored his first career SARA win. Jackson, Gareth Gonder, Jarrid Boiros, and Souza rounded out the top five.

Hard Chargers – Travis McKinney (Race 1, +8 pos.), Tyler Jackson (Race 2, +13 pos.).

Pole Winner – Daniel Williamson (13.746 seconds)

Points Battle – Heading into the night, Ryan Doucette was leading the standings but missed the race, allowing Evan Sorensen to take over the top spot and led by 5 points leaving Southern National.
