On Wednesday night, the Callaway Investments Sportsman Series ran the fourth race of their season with a 100-lap feature event at Myrtle Beach Speedway.
Race Winner – Joe Schaffer Jr. was at the point for 77 of the 100 laps en route to his 39th career SARA victory.
Race Summary – After two heats and a pole handicap of eight cars, Matt Rolfe and Joe Schaffer Jr. brought the field to the green flag for the 100-lap main event. Although one early caution went in the air when Brandon Wilkinson and Tim Bills got together, the rest of the race would be run under the green flag. For much of the run to the finish, it was an all-out duel between Schaffer and Cody Kelley, with Kelley getting the advantage late. However in the final laps, while many drivers in the back started running out of fuel, it was Kelley who looked to be ready to capture the checkered flag, but on the final lap, Kelley ran out of gas, handing Schaffer the win in the final turn.
Heat Winners – Two heat races were used to set the field for the night, with Tim Bills and Bill Martin scoring victories in the two, 10-lap events.
Hard Charger – Drew Kreibich started 17th on the field following a tough qualifying effort, but worked his way through the field, didn’t run out of gas, and finished seventh.
Sportsman Rookie – Andre Fiorini was the top rookie in the race, scoring an 8th place finish.
Title Fight – With Trevor Edwards missing the race, Ty Spearman would inherit the points lead after his podium finish and leads the standings by 13 points.
Up Next – The Callaway Investments Sportsman Series goes from Myrtle Beach to the Irwindale Speedway next week, with a 100 lap feature set to be contested at the Irwindale Inner track.
