Sim Marketing Solutions Super Series – Super Late Models – Race 2 – May 24, 2018 – Stafford Motor Speedway
For round two of the Super Series, some of the top Super Late Model drivers on iRacing visited Stafford last Thursday night with a 150-lap race in the running of the Midwest Powersource 150.
Race Summary – Michael Goddard started up front after the invert, but he faced pressure early on from Ty Spearman who would take over the top spot on lap 19. After a lap 44 restart, the race would go caution free the rest away. Ty Spearman and Joe Schaffer Jr. used the long green flag run to pull away by over 8 seconds over the rest of the field, but Schaffer was never able to make a move. Spearman would dominate the night to pick up his 27th career SARA victory.
Race Winner – Ty Spearman – Qualified 4th, started 3rd (invert), 132 laps led
Top Five – 2nd Joe Schaffer Jr., 3rd Matt Rolfe, 4th Trevor Edwards, 5th Tyler Hudson
Hard Chargers – Matt Rolfe, Samuel Roush, Jason Tarasenko (+14 positions each)
Top Rookie – Adam Josselyn (21st)
Pole Winner – Ryan Matthews (18.589 seconds)
Points Battle – With a pair of runner-up finishes to start the season, Joe Schaffer Jr. leads the standings by 14 points.
HidesPride Head2Head Throwdown – Row 3 on the grid was selected at random for drivers to compete head-to-head, with Trevor Edwards (4th) finishing ahead of David Krikorian (29th) to win the Throwdown.
Up Next – Next Thursday night the Super Series takes on the New Smyrna Speedway for 150 laps.
