Last Thursday night, the Stafford Motor Speedway was the host of The Button Box Shop Super Series for a 125-lap race in The Car Show Show Stafford 125. In qualifying, David Krikorian picked up his 23rd career SARA pole before being inverted back to 8th to start the race.
With the help of the invert, Matt Rolfe was brought to the front of the field and led the opening 56 laps. But his time out front would be cut short when Derek Robinson charged his way to the front using the apron, and took over the lead on lap 57.
In the second half of the race, Robinson would have to hold off Richie Davidowitz and Krikorian on some late restarts, but was too strong out front, and would go on to pick up his 2nd win of the season, and the 23rd win of his SARA career.
With the victory, Robinson extended his points lead up to 11 points heading into Southern National, but is unsure if he’ll make the trip to North Carolina.
A total of seven drivers were eligible for the HidesPride.com Rising Star award, but with none of those drivers advancing their finish over last season’s results at Stafford, the prize money that was up for grabs will be split among the three remaining Rising Star events.
Dean’s Satellite & Security Pole Award – David Krikorian – 18.366 seconds
Hard Charger – 29th to 11th (+18) – Cayden Lapcevich
Rookie of the Race – 3rd Place – Matt Kocher
