This past Thursday night, the TUNDRA Super Sim Series, presented by the TUNDRA Super Late Models, ran their final race of 2017 with a 200-lap race to close out the season in the HidesPride.com Championship 200.
Race Winner – David Krikorian made his move past Zack Novak with just three laps remaining to score his 3rd victory of the season.
Race Summary – Jason Tarasenko started at the front of the field and looked strong throughout the first half of the race as he was able to maintain the lead through lap 100. But shortly after halfway, others began putting on the pressure and Zack Novak was the first to get by and took over on lap 110. While Novak was leading, it was a trio of drivers that swapped the 2nd position which included Jimmy Mullis, David Krikorian and Ty Spearman, but it was eventually David Krikorian that solidified the 2nd spot, and ran down Novak up front. As the laps wound down, Krikorian worked his way under Novak with just three laps to go and went on to pick up his 30th career SARA victory.
Pole Award – Ty Spearman set his 2nd fast time of the season with a lap of 12.428 to set a new track record.
Hard Charger – Scott Dunlap used a provisional and started in the 30th, and gained 16 positions to finish in 14th.
Rookie of the Race – Jimmy Mullis finished as the top rookie with a 3rd place finish, and also wrapped up Rookie of the Season honors.
Title Fight – Entering the night, Joe Schaffer Jr. had already clinched the championship and finished off a solid season with a 14 point lead to pick up his 3rd Super Series title, and his 7th career championship. Congrats to Joe Schaffer Jr. for winning the 2017 Fall Season TUNDRA Super Sim Series championship, with 2 poles, 2 wins, 9 top fives, 11 top tens, and 213 laps led.
