Sim Marketing Solutions Super Series – Super Late Models – Round 2 – September 27, 2018 – Stafford Speedway
The Super Series took on the Stafford Speedway last Thursday night for Round 2 of the season, with the running of the SalTY Hookz 150. A total of 37 drivers would attempt to qualify, with just 30 making the field.
Race Summary – David Krikorian benefitting from the 9-car invert to start the race up front. He was able to jump out into the lead, while Cody Kelley would follow in his tire tracks for most of the night, staying within a few car lengths. During some longer runs, “DK” was able to pull away, and after some late restarts he was able to hold off the field as well, and went on to lead the entire race for his 37th career SARA win.
Race Winner – David Krikorian – Qualified 9th, Started 1st (invert), 150 laps led
Top Five – 2nd Cody Kelley, 3rd Jimmy Mullis, 4th Tim Bills, 5th Jim Caudill Jr.
Pole Winner – Ryan Doucette (18.726 seconds) – 1st career pole
Hard Charger – Samuel Roush (+19 positions, 29th to 10th)
Points Battle – After a pair of podium finishes, Jimmy Mullis leads by just 3 points over Krikorian.
HidesPride Head2Head Throwdown – Row 4 on the grid was selected at random for drivers to compete head-to-head, with Ryan Doucette (7th) finishing ahead of Dallas Pataska (9th) to win the Throwdown.
