Dreamer Racing Super Series – Super Late Models – Round 1 – February 21, 2019 – Iowa Speedway
This past Thursday night, SARA’s premier division returned to action for Round 1 of the 2019 Spring Season with a 100 lap feature event at Iowa, in the Sim Design Concepts 100.
Race Summary – A 9-car invert at the front of the field brought Trevor Edwards and Dallas Pataska up to lead the race to green. Edwards led for 7 laps before Pataska then led for 6, but it was Bill Martin that charged from 6th up to the lead by lap 14. Behind him, Ryan Doucette was making a bigger charge from 11th, picking cars off one at a time in the bottom groove until he made his way to the top spot at lap 38.
At this point the race appeared like it could go green to the finish, putting drivers in fuel conservation mode, but Doucette continued to pull away out front. As the laps began winding down, Doucette’s lead began to shrink as Christian Challiner starting cutting into the gap. With just a handful of laps left, as the battle for the lead began to shape up, Doucette was forced to duck down onto pit road as he didn’t save enough gas to make it to the end, handing the lead over to Challiner on lap 96. Challiner’s fuel saving efforts early in the race paid off as he came around to pick up the checkered flag for his 4th career SARA victory.
