Last night the MRD Pro Late Model Series made the trip to Lakeland, FL for their 100 lap event at USA International Speedway. Justin Brooks has been on fire in the PLM division since he joined a few weeks back, and the streak would continue again last night.
Brooks would pick up the pole, just .08 seconds ahead of Matt Rolfe. On the start it would be Brooks that jumped out to the lead, while James Poleske would move up into the 2nd spot.
As the green flag laps rolled on, Poleske and Rolfe found themselves in a battle for a number of laps as they switched positions a couple times. Poleske would eventually pull away with the spot as Rolfe dropped back to 4th behind Jacob Linkiewicz.
While Brooks continued to run away out front, this time it would be Poleske trying to hold off Linkiewicz over the remainder of the race. Jacob would get by for a couple of laps, but Poleske would take it back and hold him off all the way to the checkered flag.
The race stayed green for all 100 laps, which allowed Brooks to sail out front and pick up the commanding victory, his 4th straight in the series. Poleske and Jacob Linkiewicz would finish on the podium, with Rolfe and James Linkiewicz finishing out the top 5.
Points leader Clay Snider would finish 7th on the night, and his points lead would drop to just 23 points. Starting next week, drop weeks begin to come into effect which could shake things up atop the standings, especially with next’s event being another Twin 75 event.
Next week the series heads to South Boston for the Twin 75’s, which could allow a big swing in the points for some drivers. For the full results and standings from last night’s race, click HERE.
