Martin Continues Modified Dominance with SoBo Victory

Bill Martin entered Monday night as the points leader in the Dunleavy’s Modified Series as they took on the South Boston Speedway for 125 laps, and he would continue his dominance of the season by adding his 4th victory of the season. Joe Schaffer Jr. started off the night with his 16th career SARA pole, before a 8-car invert dropped him back. Clay Snider benefitted from the invert and led the opening 25 laps of the race, up until Martin made his way to the top spot by lap 26. Martin controlled much of the race and looked to be on his way to an easy victory, but after a restart with 45 laps to go, Dave Bodio posted a couple of late charges, even pulling up side-by-side with Martin for the lead on lap 99 but couldn’t make it stick. In the closing laps, Bodio gave it one more shot, but Martin would hold him off and went on to add his 53rd career SARA victory.

With the victory and a second drop race factored into the points, Martin leaves South Boston with a 41-point lead over Trevor Edwards, and will lead the series into next week’s race at Stafford
