The Open Wheel Series began Week 2 of the 2018 Spring Season with a 30-lap Midget feature at the Eldora Speedway on Monday night.
Race Winner – Dillon Raffurty threw a slider from 3rd to take the lead on a lap 10 restart and held on to take the checkered flag for his 20th career SARA victory.
Race Summary – After the Pole Shuffle at the front of the field, Keith Jeffery was scheduled to start on point but he would hand the lead over to Josh Kotten for the green flag. Kotten would lead the opening 9 laps with the help of a couple cautions, but on the lap 10 restart, Dillon Raffurty threw a slider from 3rd and made it stick, passing both Clay Snider and Kotten for the lead. Raffurty would hang on for the final 21 laps to pick up the win.
Heat Winners – Dillon Raffurty moved up from 4th to win Heat 1, while Keith Jeffery was able to keep his car clean to win Heat 2.
Hard Charger – After a Heat Race crash, Greg Netherwood started back in 14th and was able to climb up to a 6th place finish, gaining 8 positions.
Title Fight – With a 2nd and a victory in two races, Dillon Raffurty leaves Eldora with the points lead.
Up Next – The Open Wheel Series will make it’s first trip of the season to Lanier for a 40-lap feature.
