On Monday night, the Open Wheel Series and the Dirt Midgets made their first trip to The Dirt Track at Charlotte for a 30-lap feature event after a couple of weeks off.

Race Winner – Greg Netherwood capitalized on a mistake from Dave Bodio to retake the lead and held on for his first career SARA victory.

Race Summary – After a pair of Heat Races and the Pole Shuffle handicap, Russell Berry would lead the field to the green flag for the first time at Charlotte, but David Krikorian came around to lead the first lap. A caution would come out in the opening laps just as Greg Netherwood put the pressure on for the lead, and he would be scored as the leader on the restart. At the halfway point of the race, Dave Bodio made his way to the front to take over the top spot, but just a couple laps later he would slip up on the high side, allowing Netherwood back by for the lead. As the laps wound down, Zack Passen would throw his name into the mix as he charged, but Netherwood held him off and came around to take the checkers for the victory.

Heat Winners – Greg Netherwood also won his Heat Race, as well as Keith Jeffery.

Hard Charger – Zack Passen started back in the 10th spot and made a late charge for the lead before finishing 2nd, gaining 8 positions.

Title Fight – During the past couple of off-weeks for the Midgets, the division’s only drop race was factored into the standings, putting Dave Bodio back atop the standings and he would leave Charlotte still on top by 11 points over Derek Robinson.

Up Next – The Midgets will return in a couple of weeks for their final two races of the season, but next week the 410 Non-Wing Sprints will be back for their final Triple Crown event as a part of the EPYK Challenge Week.
