The start of the 2014 SARA season didn’t go off the way we had planned, as the first race of the season had to be canceled due to “rain.” iRacing server issues forced us to postpone the season opener for the NEO Racing News Legends League race in Daytona. We will consider rescheduling this event for later in the season.
The weather in Phoenix was bright and sunny for the opener of the Pennant Sports Net Pro Series East race in the desert. 20 haulers showed up for the race and after qualifying was done, newcomer Kyle McCormick took the pole with a time of 27.741, just 5 hundredths of a second faster than 2nd place, Lee Ball. McCormick would jump out to the early lead, pacing the field for the first 11 laps before Ball would take over the top spot on lap 12. He would never look back and would go on the lead the rest of the race and pick up the inaugural PSNPSE victory. Derek Robinson would work his way up to 2nd, McCormick ended up 3rd, with Jeff Bye Jr and Clay Snider rounding out the top 5.

Last night’s Modified Racing Series event also faced some bad weather before the session was up, which may have caused some drivers to leave their cars at home in the garages. When the weather cleared, only a handful of cars made it to the track. So due to low car counts for the Mods and server issues all night, we are also postponing the MRS race at Irwindale until later in the season.
Tonight the Sportsman Street Stock Series, presented by Three Palms Speedway, will head to the USA Speedway in Lakeland, FL for their opener. Race time is 11pm EST.
