On Monday night the NEO Racing News Legends League returned to action when they headed to the Texas Motor Speedway for their Texas Cup double header event. Drivers would first take on the long infield road course for an 18-lap race, and then they would switch over to the front stretch Legends oval for a 75-lap feature event. 15 drivers would run the first event, while 14 would run the oval race.
In the first event, Travis Warling would set the fast time in qualifying to take the pole, and went on to dominate the race leading all 18 laps en route to his 9th career SARA victory. Bill Martin, Ryan Borges, Parker Traves and Mike Christopher rounded out the top 5. The win would also give Warling the points lead heading into the 2nd event.
In the oval portion of the double header, it was Borges that took the pole. But Warling would carry his momentum and took the lead just after half way and held off a hard charge from Borges at the end to grab the win, and sweep the Texas Cup double header. Borges, Dale Owen, Mike Rhyno, and Dante Curtis rounded out the top 5. The win makes Warling the 9th driver to hit the 10 career wins mark in the league.
Next week the series will run a standalone event at Thompson for a 40-lap feature event.
With the two wins, Warling took over the points lead and now leads by 20 points heading into next week. For the full results and standings, click HERE.
