Last time the NEO Racing News Legends League visited the New Hampshire Motor Speedway during week 5, Travis Warling whooped the field on the 1.53 mile road course. He would have no problems picking right back up where he left off and would capture the win on the Legends oval as well.
Matt Rolfe grabbed the quick time in qualifying with a lap time of 15.792, beating out second place starter Charles Denny. As the field took the green, Rolfe would jump out to the lead, but Travis Warling would be in pursuit from his 3rd starting position.
On lap 4, Warling would get the run he needed off of the tight turn 2, and he would get by Rolfe for the lead. That would be the only break Warling would need.
As the drivers settled in during the early laps, the race had the feeling that it could go all 75 laps under green. But the night’s only caution would come out on lap 55 as Patrick Hahe came around in turn 2.
But as the field tightened up for the restart, Warling would have no issues jumping out to the lead and he would lead the rest of the way to the finish, to pick up his 2nd win of the season. Rolfe would hang onto 2nd place, while Mike Testa would make a late pass for 3rd, moving Charles Denny back to 4th. Joshua Kotten would round out the top 5.
With Rolfe’s 2nd place finish, and points leader Ronald Williams missing the event, Rolfe would take over the points lead by 12 points heading into the final week of the season.
Next week the series finishes off the season with a double header event, at the Daytona Short Road Course, and then to the Oxford Plains Speedway.
