With the second off-week of the season now complete, all that’s left this season is two more weeks of racing. Let’s take a look back at the Week 10 Power Rankings:
10. Derek Robinson – Last Week’s Rank: NR
The former Pro Late Model champ has been running part time this season for the most part, while still running most of the Super Late Model races, but Derek is on a nice little run as of late. In his past four races in the last couple of weeks, he’s put up a trio of 3rd place finishes, including the Week 10 race at Thompson, as well as a 7th place at Pheonix in the PLM division. Derek’s proven before that he can be a front runner, and we’ll look for him to continue to run up front this week as well.
9. Patrick Hahe – Last Week’s Rank: 8th (-1) & Jeff Hoggard – Last Week’s Rank: 10th (+1)
Patrick drops down a spot this week in the rankings, while Jeff joins him at #9 by moving up a spot. For Patrick, he had some more solid finishes on Monday night, with a 6th in the Legends division, and a 9th in the SK Modified race. For Jeff, he only ran in the Legends event but did get a top five finish out of it. Both of these drivers have been consistent as of late, but need to kick it up a notch to move up at all in these rankings. But definitely look for a couple more solid finishes as the season winds down over the next two weeks.
8. Dale Owen – Last Week’s Rank: NR
Dale jumps right up into 8th this week with a couple of solid finishes. Dale ran full time for a couple of seasons, but missed most of this season until joining us a couple weeks ago in Week 9. In the two weeks since, he’s posted 6 top tens, 3 of those being top fives, and his other finishes have been right outside of the top ten. He’s off to a solid start since rejoining the league, and we’ll look for him to continue to pick up some consistent finishes.
7. David Krikorian – Last Week’s Rank: 9th (+2)
David jumps up to #7 this week with a strong run in the Week 10 Pro Late Model race at Phoenix. While most of the field was battling side-by-side and fighting for positions, David was basically just one of two drivers that could escape away from the field and ran up front, and ended up with a 2nd place finish. Look for some more strong runs for David to close out the season in any race that he ends up choosing.
6. Matt Rolfe – Last Week’s Rank: 6th (+0)
Matt had a pretty good week overall in Week 10. He started off well at Lucas Oil with a 3rd place finish in the Legends race and a runner up finish in the SK Modified division. He started on pole and led most of the Street Stock race but would finish back in 10th, and in the Pro Late Model race he would end up back in 16th after a last lap spin. But he would rebound with a 6th place finish in the Super Late Model race. Look for Matt to keep on picking up top fives and top tens to close out the season.
5. Ty Spearman – Last Week’s Rank: 5th (+0)
Ty continues to be a strong contender each time out, as he picked up a trio of top ten finishes in Week 10. His week started off with a 4th place finish in the SK Modified race, and then in the Pro Late Model race he ran near the front of the pack all race long before ending up finishing in the 9th spot. Then he looked to have everything under control when he started on pole and led a majority of the Super Late Model race before an unscheduled pit stop, but was able to recover up to a 5th place finish. Look for a strong run to the end of the season for Ty.
4. Ty Majeski – Last Week’s Rank: 3rd (-1)
Ty only ran one race in Week 10, and didn’t get the finish he was looking for, but has run well enough in the weeks prior to keep him up in 4th in these rankings. He started on the pole for the Pro Late Model race at Phoenix but some connection issues dropped him out of the race early, and he ended up with just a 21st place finish. Look for him to recover though, and he should go right back to contending for wins over the next two weeks of the season.
3. Bill Martin – Last Week’s Rank: 4th (+1)
Bill had another “Bill-like” week in Week 10 as he picked up another victory and some other strong runs. He started off the week with a 2nd place finish in the Legends race, but then kicked up a notch by taking the win in the SK Modified race that same night. Then he followed it all up with another 2nd place finish in the Street Stock race at Concord. Bill is on his way to picking up another championship to his name, which will be his 4th title in 4 different divisions in the league. Look for Bill to finish off the season on a high note.
2. Ryan Borges – Last Week’s Rank: 2nd (+0)
Ryan had another strong week in Week 10, and it started off with another Legends victory as he’s on his way to picking up his first SARA championship in the division. He followed up that win with a 7th in the SK Modified race, but then returned to victory lane again in the Street Stock race at Concord. And in the Pro Late Model race, he picked up another top five with a 4th place finish. Ryan has had a very strong season, and that should continue right through to the final race of the season.
1. Cody Kelley – Last Week’s Rank: 1st (+0)
After not having any wins in Week 9, Cody returned to victory lane twice in Week 10 which again secures his spot atop of these rankings. He only ran two races, but he made them both count, as he charged from 13th in the Pro Late Model race to take that win, and then followed it up with another win in the Super Late Model race after taking over the lead just after half way and then sailed to victory. He missed the Street Stock race, but even so, he’s on his way to picking up three different SARA championships in the same year in the SS, PLM, and SLM divisions. But with those titles basically locked up, don’t expect him to take things easy over the final two weeks of the season as we should see him in victory lane some more before the season ends.
New This Week: Derek Robinson, Dale Owen
Dropped Out: Parker Traves
