The Sportsman Street Stock Series made the trip down to Lakeland, FL for the 75 lap event at the USA International Speedway. A combination of some hot weather, and some tight racing, made it tough for the field to keep it green flag, as the yellow flew often throughout the race.
Mark Arthur took the top spot in qualifying and made the quick jump out front to take the lead. Behind him the field would have a hard time settling in.
Multiple drivers would take their shot at starting on the outside of Arthur on the restarts, but the inside lane proved to be to valuable as Arthur would pull away each time.
The final restart came with just two laps to go, but again no one would have anything for Arthur as he picked up his 3rd win of the season as he passed under the combined yellow and checkered flags. Huston Hamer would recover from a couple early incidents to finish 2nd, while Matt Rolfe also recovered to take 3rd. An incident on the last lap would allow Scott Dunlap and Mike Belanger to both move up into the top 5.
Points leader, Clay Snider, finished 7th in the race after that last lap incident dropped him back from the 3rd spot at the time. His 7th place finish would drop his points lead a little, but he continues to lead by 141 points over Scott Dunlap. Next week the series heads into drop weeks which should shuffle some of the standings.
