Davis Chassis Works Contender Series – Super Late Models – Round 7 – November 28, 2018 – The Bullring at LVMS
For Round 7 of the season, 35 drivers showed up to compete in the Contender Series at The Bullring for a pair of 150 lap races.
Race 1 Summary – Early on in Race 1, Jason Tarasenko would inherit the lead after a skirmish ahead of him at the front of the field. Behind him, a number of top Contender drivers were battling for positions, and Kyle Souza was the first one to emerge from the group. Souza made his way up to challenge Tarasenko for the lead on lap 75 and completed the pass. Souza held off Brad Mahar and others over the second half, and was able to pick up his 5th career SARA race.
Race 2 Summary – In Race 2, newcomer Jacob Harberts led the field to the green and looked strong up front for most of the race. His first challenge didn’t come until the late stages when Keith Medeiros began chasing him down during a longer run, and as the two approached lapped traffic, Harberts would tangle with another car, but was able to continue. After the restart with 13 laps to go, Medeiros gave it one more shot in the closing laps, getting to the inside to battle for the lead, but Harberts held him off at the line by .046 seconds (8th closest SARA finish) for his first career SARA victory.
Hard Chargers – TJ White (Race 1, +7 pos.), Chris Canfield (Race 2, +8 pos.)
Pole Winner – Brandon Wilkinson (13.764 seconds)
Points Battle – After The Bullring, Keith Medeiros was able to leave with a 9 point gap before heading into Martinsville.
