Davis Chassis Works Contender Series – Super Late Models – Round 4 – October 10, 2018 – Langley Speedway

Last Wednesday night, the Contender Series visited Langley for 150 laps, with 43 drivers being split up into two separate features.

Race 1 Summary – Andrew Graham started out front in Race 1, but it was Brad Mahar that quickly made his move into the lead on lap 8. For the rest of the race, the two drivers dominated the race with Mahar out front and Graham within a few car lengths all race long. The two seemed equal, which meant Graham was never able to gain enough ground to make a charge, and Mahar would hold him off and went on to score his first SARA victory.

Race 2 Summary – In Race 2, Alex McCollum jumped out to the lead and was able to pull away on some early runs. The last restart came on lap 68, setting up a long run to the finish. After looking strong early, McCollum wasn’t able to pull away in the second half of the race. He would give up the lead to Evan Sorensen on lap 110, with Dallas Pataska following him through. Pataska rode in Sorensen’s tire tracks for a while, before finally making his move with just 7 laps to go. Pataska made the pass stick, and went on to add his 4th career SARA win.

Hard Chargers – TJ White (Race 1, +7 pos.), Devon Morgan (Race 2, +7 pos.)

Pole Winner – Andrew Graham (15.174 seconds)

Points Battle – After four rounds, Brandon Wilkinson holds a 5 point lead over Devon Morgan.

Up Next – Next week the Contender Series will visit Richmond for 110 laps under the lights.
