Davis Chassis Works Contender Series – Super Late Models – Round 6 – March 27, 2019 – The Milwaukee Mile

Last week a total of 46 Super Late Models unloaded at Milwaukee and were split into a pair of 100 lap features.

Race 1 Summary – Riley Stenjem jumped out to a very strong start and pulled away out front, but he may have used up some of his tires too early. After the competition caution, and a couple quick yellows, Fred Moreau and others were able to hang with Stenjem this time, keeping the gap to just a couple of car lengths. During a green flag run, Moreau closed in and made his move on lap 70, and the two would run door-to-door for a handful of laps until Moreau eventually prevailed with the lead. Moreau held off the field over a pair of late restarts, and went on to pick up his first career SARA win.

Race 2 Summary – Race 2 also saw the pole sitter jump out and front and pull away early, as Justin LaDuke held a sizable lead early. But this time after the competition caution, LaDuke maintained control out front and extended the lead out to over 2 seconds. The race saw a trio of cautions over the final 30 laps, bringing the field back in to have a shot at the lead, but LaDuke was too strong out front and held off the field for his 5th career SARA victory.

Hard Chargers – Stephen Morsillo (Race 1, +9 pos.), Andrew Wooten (Race 2, +10 pos. each)

Pole Winner – Riley Stenjem (27.280 seconds)

Points Battle – Riley Stenjem maintains his points lead after Milwaukee, and will lead the field into Bristol.
