Davis Chassis Works Contender Series – Super Late Models – Round 10 – August 1, 2018 – Five Flags Speedway
Last week, the Contender Series visited the Pensacola half-mile, and nearly 40 cars showed up for a pair of 150-lap races.
Race 1 Summary – Justin LaDuke put down a strong qualifying lap to put himself at the front of Race 1, and he took full advantage of it. LaDuke spent a majority of the race with a solid lead over the rest of the field, while only Ryan Doucette was able to keep pace, until late in the run Doucette made a costly error that dropped him back. LaDuke would go on to lead all 150 laps of the race to pick up his first career SARA win. Derek Robinson, AJ Rogers, Adam Josselyn, and Jarrid Boiros rounded out the top five.
Race 2 Summary – In Race 2, Donald Clark ran his best race of the season, leading a career-high 93 laps. But after an early caution, the race would go yellow-free to the finish, which displayed which drivers had their cars set up for the long run. Keith Medeiros had a strong car in the second half and was able to get by Clark for the lead on lap 94, but wasn’t able to pull away. However behind them, Evan Sorensen was making a bigger charge and battled Medeiros late for the win, and the two battled side-by-side until Sorensen eventually gained the advantage with just 9 laps to go, and went on to pick up his 4th win of the season. Medeiros, Clark, Russell Charneski, and Gareth Gonder rounded out the top five.

Pole Winner – Justin LaDuke (16.137 seconds)
Lokotoco Designs Triple Crown Points Battle – Evan Sorensen was crowned the Triple Crown champion at the end of the night with finishes of 2nd, 1st, and 1st.
Points Battle – With another victory, Evan Sorensen extended his points lead over Ryan Doucette by 26 points heading into the final two races of the season.
