Davis Chassis Works Contender Series – Super Late Models – Round 6 – November 7, 2018 – Five Flags Speedway
As a final tuneup, and some extra track time prior to the Fall Brawl, the Contender Series visited 5Flags for 150 laps in Round 6 of their season.
Race 1 Summary – After winning the pole, Andrew Graham jumped out to an early lead while the rest of the field battled behind him. The race was plagued with cautions early, which allowed Graham to save some tires, but also brought Dallas Pataska and Brad Mahar into the battle up front. But in the second half of the race, those two couldn’t make a charge, and Graham would go on to lead every lap on his way to his first career SARA win.
Race 2 Summary – Race 2 featured a lot more action at the front of the field. Just LaDuke led early on, but when the battle heated up between himself and Keith Medeiros, the two would get collected, sending both cars to the rear. Brandon Wilkinson inherited the lead and fought with Derek Robinson for the lead over the next 60 laps, before Robinson finally got by on lap 104, but Devon Morgan was right behind him following him through. Morgan ducked under Robinson and took the lead away just two laps later, and then went on to lead the final 45 laps on his way to victory.
Hard Chargers – Mark Royer (Race 1, +10 pos.), Devon Morgan (Race 2, +12 pos.)
Pole Winner – Andrew Graham (15.579 seconds)
Points Battle – With two drop races being factored into the standings following Round 6, Keith Medeiros sits atop the standings, but a number of cars are close behind.
Up Next – The series will return at The Bullring at LVMS on November 28.
